Welcome Walkers and Cyclists

Welcome Walkers and Cyclists Logo

Accommodation providers in England recognise that there's no such thing as an average customer. If you're a walker or cyclist, for example, you know how helpful it is to stay somewhere that offers facilities like a room to dry wet clothes or a secure place to leave your bikes. Accommodation providers who display the Welcome Walkers and/or Welcome Cyclists logos offer a range of additional services specifically Walkers and Cyclists.

The accreditation is only given to accommodation that has participated in training to particularly welcome walkers and cyclists. This means that the accommodation providers have agreed to provide the following for walkers/cyclists staying at their establishment:

  • Tea and coffee facilities on arrival
  • Drying arrangements for wet clothes and shoes
  • Details of local restaurants or pubs offering food
  • Up-to-date information on local bus or train services available
  • First aid kit on premises
  • Information on local attractions and local events

There are also a host of additional services depending on the awards:

For Walkers

  • Details of local and regional footpaths.
  • Transport available for walkers between paths and accommodation if more than 2 miles apart or if public transport is unavailable
  • Storage space sufficient for rucksacks and boots

For Cyclists

  • Secure lockable storage space sufficient for bicycles.
  • Complete puncture repair kit kept on premises.
  • Details of local and regional cycle routes

When searching for accommodation, look out for the Welcome Walkers and Welcome Cyclists logos above.
