Description:
A particularly fine chalk woodland on the Isle of Wight, with excellent spring flowers and a red squirrel population.
This is one of the finest examples of chalk woodland on the Isle of Wight and in spring the woodland floor is carpeted in bright Bluebells. Walking through the mature Hazel coppice you may be lucky enough to see Red
Squirrels, which are only found on the Isle of Wight and Brownsea Island in the south of England. The small area of unimproved chalk grassland adjacent to the woodland supports a variety of flowers and butterflies and is
maintained by autumn sheep grazing and scrub control.
